6-10-19 Using the Early Literacy Skills Builder (ELSB) in your classroom- No Fee for Member Districts, $35 Fee for Non Member Districts

Target Audience: Any school staff wanting to learn to use the Early Literacy Skills Builder (ELSB)

11. Identify and prioritize long and short-term learning goals.
12. Systematically design instruction toward a specific learning goal.
13. Adapt curriculum tasks and materials for specific goals.
15. Provide scaffolded supports.
16. Use explicit instruction.
20. Provide intensive instruction.
21. Teach students to maintain and generalize new learning across time and settings.
22. Provide positive and constructive feedback to guide students learning and behavior.

Description: 

The Early Literacy Skills Builder (ELSB) is a researched based literacy curriculum for children ages 5 to 10 with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. It is a scripted curriculum that incorporates systematic instruction to teach both print and phonemic awareness.This session will be an overview of how two teachers use the Early Literacy Skills Builder in their classrooms. Participants will learn how to use the ELSB curriculum and suggestions for adapting it to the meet their students learning styles.  Participants are suggested to bring a copy of the ELSB if they have one, but it is not required.  The ELSB curriculum will NOT be provided to participants.

At CKSEC, we love kids and families! Unfortunately, due to liability issues and professional decorum, children and other family members or friends are not permitted to attend our trainings.

Please get permission from CKEC prior to video or audio recording a portion or all of a CKEC session. 

Please dress in layers as it can be difficult to adjust the temperature.

Attendance Policy:

If you register to attend a session, but find you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible. Space is limited and by canceling you will allow others to benefit from these highly qualified professional development opportunities. A fee could be assessed for no shows.

Districts will be notified of those who registered and did not attend or did not cancel prior to be session.
