Introduction to Handgun Safety and Marksmanship

5 hour course
Maximum number of students: 8
Cost: $99.99 per person

This Introduction to Handgun Safety and Marksmanship class is a training course designed for the individual with very limited or no experience shooting handguns who is interested in learning how to safely and accurately use a handgun for recreational target shooting and/or personal protection. Time will be spent in the classroom and on Adventure Outdoors Remington Range for a shooting session. This course will also prepare the shooter who is interested in using a handgun for defense to take more advanced training. The focus of this course is range and home safety, developing an understanding of the fundamentals of marksmanship, and learning how to use dry fire practice to increase shooting ability. Students will have the opportunity to fire up to 40 rounds of ammunition with an instructor’s assistance. Students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Instructional topics include:

• The basic rules of firearms safety and gun handling

• Adventure Outdoors range safety rules and video

• Key fundamentals of handgun marksmanship

Course cost includes one handgun, targets, eye protection, and ear protection. If you have your own handgun, you are encouraged to bring it for the class (no big bore calibers, ie, .44 mag, .50 AE, .410, etc.). It is helpful for you to bring at least 40 rounds of ammunition for your handgun; or you will need to buy the ammo from us. Ammunition is not included in the class cost. (Note: No steel cased/steel core ammo is allowed on the range.) You may bring your own hearing and eye protection if you wish. Prescription eyeglasses will suffice for eye protection. Please do not wear sandals, high heels, open toed shoes, low neckline tops, or excessively loose clothing or jewelry. A cap with a bill is recommended for wear on the range.

All students must be 21 years of age or older. All students must bring a valid government issued picture ID with them. Registered students will receive a welcome email from the instructor on where to go and what to bring.
