Maura graduated with honors from UMB in 1999 and immediately started mentoring studentsinterested in public health through her work at the Spanish Catholic Center. After a decade as apreceptor for the dental school she joined the faculty in 2009 where she taught clinical dental hygienefor many years followed by a stint at HCC where she taught A&P. In addition to private practice andeducation, Maura created a dental hygiene competition called It’s Hygienic with her friend Bianca Harris.For 5 years they traveled to many states challenging students with board related content. Over hercareer as a hygienist she has also spent many fulfilling hours participating with ADHA as HCDHAPresident, HCDHA Community Outreach Chair, MDHA Well-Being Committee Chair, and Delegate toMDHA.
