Join Tour de Brooklyn on Sunday, June 1st! Have fun, get fit, enjoy Brooklyn AND support a healthier life for all children! The tour is a 20-mile bicycle ride through Brooklyn, including Flatbush, Prospect Lefferts and Prospect Park at Empire/Flatbush, where Seeds in the Middle plans to open three farmers markets in high-need neighborhoods.

Transportation Alternatives online registration is CLOSED. But we are OPEN! Sign up by THURSDAY, MAY 29th and we'll get you a TA registration form to get in. Do it now OR lose your chance.

Please gather pledges for us to help underserved children and families access nearby affordable, freshfood and fitness. See Crown Heights kids who rode the 2010 5-Boro Bike Tour here.

Here's some fun pledge ideas!

•  Solicit a bet. Afraid you can't make 20 miles, like Solomon Long, a hefty former principal at PS 91? He's asking folks to bet on how far Mr. Long can go! First winners get free lunch at a nice restaurant with Mr. Long!
• Get a sponsor. We will publicize sponsors at our farmers markets and our youth Hip2B Healthy ambassadors will give out their promotional materials.                 

Where does the money go?

- $20 or $35 goes to Transportation Alternatives, which promotes alternatives to motor vehicles, like bicycling, walking and running. $20 is entry fee and $35 to get membership. We will send you registration form when you sign up with us by Thursday, May 29.

- We're asking minimum $50 pledge per rider but hoping you will get us pledges up to $300 for Seeds in the Middle. You can sign up with us at $50 and we'll send you the registration for LAST SPOTS for Tour de Brooklyn, closing May 29.  We're a 501c charity empowering children in food deserts to create healthy environments at school and in their communities. This June, Seeds in the Middle wants to put up three, maybe, four, farmers markets, featuring youth-run Hip2B Healthy Markets, plus possibly more youth-run farmstands. Our markets will be:

• Thursdays @ Crown Heights at Hamilton Metz Park, Albany/Lefferts Aves.
•  Fridays @ Parkside Plaza (Q) train between Ocean and Flatbush Aves.
•  Saturdays @ Prospect Park entrance at Empire/Flatbush Aves.
•  Saturdays (if we can) - Bed-Stuy Summer Market, at MS 35
  

$300 - sponsor 4 kids to play soccer or baskeball for 6 weeks

$900 - Adopt a farmers market for a week and we will blast out any business you'd like. Get a thank you certificate!

Attention: Schools! Riders! Students can ride, too! Form a school team to get a chef night, when a premier chef comes to your school kitchen & prepares with students a sumptuous, nutritional dinner served to parents and the community. Or go for a student-run Hip2B Healthy Market at your school!

You can register yourself and/or a child. Get your principal or a teacher and/or school friends to ride and place bets on how far he or she can go. Want to practice or learn? Let us know. We're setting up times to learn to ride and practice in Crown Heights.
