Summer Programs 

Join us for a full summer of youth programs! CMBC is offering mid week Nordic training, Saturday Biathlon Sessions, and one Summer Camp in beautiful Bridger Montana. Space is limited. Sign up today. Participants will receive a free high visibility training t shirt.

Programs are designed for ages 9 to 19 yrs old of all abilities.   Rifle ownership is not requred; loaner rifles are available for use in programs.

Quality Coaching:

All Coaching will directed by Head Coach, Rob Rosser.  Rob also serves as a coach for the U.S. Paralympic Nordic and Biathlon team.  Rob was an Olympian in the 1998 games in Nagano, 3 time North American Biathlon Champion, 5 time U.S. National Champion, former U.S. Army World Class Athlete (WCAP) team and National Guard Biathlon.  Captain Rosser spent 21 yrs in the Army National Guard and is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran. 

Biathlon coaching is also provided by Harry Brubakera former Wyoming National Guard Biathlon Team member.  Harry Brubaker retired from the Wyoming National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel and later from the Army Reserves as a Colonel. He skied on the Wyoming National Guard Biathlon Team from 1978 through 1996, competing at the National Guard Bureau Championships each year, which involved National Guard teams from twenty-two states. Harry has served as a Natrona County School District cross-country ski coach for sixteen years.  Harry has also served as a biathlon coach at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  

Quality Assistant Coaches will also be utilized at Nordic and Biathlon Training sessions.  

 

Summer Nordic Training

SKIERS ARE MADE IN THE SUMMER! CMBC Summer Nordic Sessions will offer regular sport specific training from June through August.  Sessions will be held twice a week and will focus on both skate and classic technique.  Training will also focus on endurance, strength, agility and speed.  Sessions will include dryland training, biking, running, rollerskiing, and strength training.  Some sessions will include video analysis and fitness testing.  The purpose of this program is ski focused only; shooting will not be covered in these sessions.  This program is open to athletes of all ability levels ages 9 to 19.  Rollerski sessions will require skate and classic OR combi rollerskis, poles, high vis shirt/vest, water bottle/holder and helmet.  Participants should also own a heart rate monitor.

June 3rd – August 28th

Tues & Thurs         8am – 10am

Workout locations still TBD.   Expect some work outs to be held in town and some on Casper Mountain.

Cost:  $400

Includes:  26 two hour sessions, High Visibility CMBC shirt & CMBC Club Membership

Summer Biathlon Training

CMBC will be offering Biathlon training almost every Friday and some Saturday's all summer long.  (See program Calendar at www.caspermountainbiathlonclub.org)  This program is great for beginners as well as experienced athletes.  Beginners will learn the fundementals with lots of guided practice.  Experienced athletes will continue to refine their skills.    Includes 15 two hour sessions, CMBC membership & CMBC T-shirt.

Saturday's June 7th - Aug 30th .  Program also includes one Sunday session a month.

8am - 10 am

Some sessions will be held at Stuckenhoff Shooters Complex and some will be held on Casper Mountain.  

Cost: $300

Summer Nordic & Biathlon Package $600

 

Montana Biathlon Camp

July 23-28

Bohart Ranch located in the Bridger Valley

$300 (does not include travel expenses/room/board or race registration fee)

Participants will receive 2 1/2 days of intensive training focued on Combination Training and Range Procefure on July 24/25 and then will have the opportunity to compete with coaching & race support  in 2 to 4 races over the weekend.  The first race will be held in West Yellowstone on Saturday the 26th and the second in the Montana State Games race at Bohart on Sunday, July 27th.  Athletes will have the choice of running biathlon or mountain bike biathlon or both!

July 24 - AM & PM Combos at Bohart Range

July 25 - AM Combos at Bohart Range, PM work out

July 26 - West Yellowstone Race

July 27 - Big Sky State Games

July 28 - AM shooting at Bohart then depart for  home

 

Junior Development Team (Year Round Program)

This program includes everything listed above and more. The CMBC Junior Development Team will educate and train athletes on how to become successful Biathlon competitors.  The program will provide athletes 9 to 20 years of age the opportunity to train and compete at a higher level with the goal of becoming a competitive racer. Athletes will learn the importance of sport specific training, technique, strength, endurance, agility, precision, accuracy and speed. This will be accomplished through year round training with a group of highly motivated athletes and coaches, individualized training plans and race support. These components will be combined with the camaraderie and teamwork required to foster the positive working environment necessary for success at the competitive level.

Cost:

$1500 per year (May 2014 to April 2015)

Includes:

  • Year round individual training plan, resource binder and monitoring
  • Monthly team 2 day training block with head coach
  • 1 one-on-one ski training and 1 one-on-one shooting and planning session with each athlete
  • 1 x week Biathlon specific training session (June through August)
  • 2 x week Nordic training sessions (June through August)
  •  Travel Camps: Montana Summer Camp, West Yellowstone Ski Festival Camp  (cost of travel not included)
  • Winter Ski technique sessions - schedule still TBD
  • Nutritrial guidance (hand outs will be provided and talks during training sessions)
  • Goal setting and Race schedule
  • Equipment purchase guidance
  • CMBC membership 
  • High Vis Training T-shirt 
  • Team members can participate in all CMBC activities at no additional costs.

 Expectations for Athletes

  • Have Current membership of USBA and Stuckenhoff Shooters Complex
  • Have Dedication to year round training
  • Be Committed to excellence on and off the trail
  • Have Excellent communication with coaches about anything that could impact your training and performance
  • Own roller skis, bike, heart rate monitor, skate skis and rifle (talk to us if you do not own these, loaner equipment can be made available)
  • Turn in a weekly training log on Sunday; keeping total of year’s training turned in at end of year with written summary of year’s training
  • Be active in the CMBC community volunteer & participate at club activities, assist with fundraising, thank donors, spread the word…
