ITS Arizona Technical Workshop June 13, 2022

Leading transportation technology provider, one.network and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) have created the most robust Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx) feed to date, the first and only to utilize statewide data. The program is part of the U.S. Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) effort to improve work zone safety by standardizing and sharing real-time work zone data across all 50 states.

For one.network, working with NCDOT is a natural progression. The company has been directly involved in the development of WZDx, virtually since the beginning. Chief Product Manager Adam Graham has been a regular contributor to the discussion and was recently elected co-chair of both the WZDx Work Zone Data Working Group and the Specification Update Subgroup. In that capacity, he will help steer the direction of the program as WZDx evolves.

One.network is now aggregating comprehensive work zone data from across North Carolina including lane closure and road disruption information and using the feed to deliver data to a central repository.  The information is available to navigation apps, connected and autonomous vehicles and any company or regional authority seeking to integrate the state’s real-time transportation information. With its broad scope and capability, this is the most significant WZDx feed to date. North Carolina DOT is unique in that it maintains 80,000 miles of interstate, state and arterial roadway, proportionate to its size, more than any other state department of transportation.

Adam will elaborate on this project and discuss what it takes to get an agencies data in shape to meet the requirements of the WZDx Data feed. April Wire, Traffic Operations Branch Manager at MCDOT, will also provide an update on the progress of their WZDx Grant Project during the session.

Lunch and drinks will be provided and we look forward to seeing you in person!
