Michigan Envirothon Registration 2019

Inspiring Environmental Stewardship in Michigan's Youth Since 1994

Michigan Envirothon (ME) has been inspiring and training the next generation of Michigan’s natural resource leaders since 1994.  ME is an exciting and challenging way to provide natural resource and environmental science education to high school students throughout the state of Michigan.  The ME program focuses on using the outdoors as a classroom, utilizing diverse "eco-stations" as competition testing sites, and interaction and training with professionals in the field.  In addition to gaining valuable knowledge, teams also complete a service learning project.  The Community Outreach Project portion of the competition tasks studetns with identifying and addressing a natural resource issue in their community through hands-on problem solving and community education.

Form a team: Michigan Envirothon teams may be comprised of up to eight students (five team members and three alternate members) *please note for state competition only 5 team members may officially compete, alternates may attend.  Teams may be formed by school districts, home school groups, career centers, Girl/Boy Scout groups, FFA, 4-H, church groups and/or environmental clubs.  Team advisors are not required to have any special training; they just need to be an adult interested in working with the students and helping them prepare for competition.  Assistance is often available through the local Conservation District (see www.macd.org for a directory) and other groups.

More Event Details:

The state is divided into 8 Regions for the purposes of testing and training and 8 Regional Competitions will be held around the state in March.  These competitions function as both a training and review day as well as a qualifier for the state competition. Training sessions will be facilitated by local resource professionals and held outside, (weather permitting) with hands-on activities over lecture style presentations when possible.

The top 24 regional competitores from around the state will advance to battle it out at the State Compeition in May.  The international NCF Envirothon compeition will be held on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina July 28 - August 2, 2019.

Teams are required to participate in their assigned Regional Competition, unless otherwise approved prior to the event.  *Exceptions to this rule must be approved in advance by submitting a written request stating a valid need or hardship justifying participation in another Regional Competition.  Regional Competitions may be combined if the number of registered teams do not meet minimum requirements.
