The event will be led by Dr. Christopher Nichols, the Director of the OSU Center for the Humanities, specializing in the history of the United States and its relationship to the rest of the world.
Nichols will share a brief assessment of current trends, and past patterns related to the notion and practice of "citizenship," including exploration of political engagement, disinformation and distrust of major institutions and the media.
Afterwards, we’ll share a conversation to distill what can make us feel defeated, and what can carry us beyond that. The goal is for us to have a lively discussion and leave with some plans of action. Guests will have an opportunity to share their concerns about today’s social challenges, hopefully culminating the conversation in search of new perspectives and paths forward individually and collectively.
