Delta Studies Institute 2017 - 2018

The Delta Studies Institute begins with a full day bus tour of the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta Region. Beginning at the Cross Channel Gates north of Walnut Grove, you will see various areas showing levee restoration, subsidence, the Big Break Regional Park and Nature Center, the Tracy pumping plant and the Skinner fish screens. On the two follow up dates you will learn about and receive EEI and Delta Studies curriculum as well as NGSS implementation strategies.  We will return in May to share projects.

  • Help your students and future citizens learn more about the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta 
  • Learn about and receive two EEI Curriculum units for your grade level
  • Teach Next Gen Science standards using curriculum that focuses on California’s most valuable resource
  • Receive training and materials for Project Learning Tree activities
  • Hands-on activities and integrated lessons with literary links
  • Each unit, K - 8 and 9 - 12 grade level appropriate
  • Kits of materials available for checkout to Delta Studies teachers who have participated in the
    training.
  • $200 Stipend upon completion
  • One unit of credit available through Teachers College of San Joaquin (additional cost)

Dates include:

September 16        8:00 - 4:00   Delta bus tour with lunch included

November 15           4:30 - 7:30   Curriculum and implementation strategies, dinner included

May 8, 2018           4:30 - 7:30   Project sharing, dinner included
