The Delta Studies Institute begins with a full day bus tour of the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta Region. You will learn about salmon restoration efforts and water conversation at Cross Channel Gates, delta restoration, climate change impacts on California's water and carbon sequestration project at Twitchell Island. You will also visit Big Break Regional Shoreline and learn about the human impact on the Sacramento and San Joaquin watershed. In October, you will learn about EEI and Delta Studies curriculum as well as NGSS implementation strategies in order to prepare your lessons. We will return in May to share projects/lesson.
Required dates:
October 16, 2021, 8:00am - 4:00pm, Location: Wentworth Education Center. Delta bus tour with lunch included.
October 20, 2021, 4:30pm - 7:30pm, Location: Durham Ferry Outdoor Education Center. Curriculum and NGSS implementation strategies, dinner included.
May 11, 2022, 4:30pm - 7:30pm, Location: Durham Ferry Outdoor Education Center. Project sharing, dinner included.

COVID Protocols: Face Masks are required while we are on the bus. Please pre-screen for COVID symptoms before you arrive. Pre-screen questions will be emailed to all participants prior to each event. Additional requirements may apply. We will keep you informed as each event approaches.
Cancellations: If not paying by credit card, your check or journal payment must be sent at least 10-days prior to the workshop or event. If the workshop or event is cancelled by SJCOE, participants will be notified and will obtain a full refund. No refunds or credit will be given to participants. Substitutes are welcome.
