Queer Black Lives Matter: The Intersection of Race, Gender and Sexuality in K-12 Schools

Wednesday, October 21, 2020, 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Join Alberto Cifuentes, Jr., LMSW, a long-time volunteer with GLSEN Connecticut, a safe schools advocacy organization focused on ensuring that all K-12 students are safe, included, and affirmed in schools, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression, for a conversation on the intersection of race, gender, and sexuality in K-12 schools, especially during the pandemic. Alberto will speak about the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth of color and make specific recommendations on how to support them in and out of school. He will also discuss the effects of the school-to-prison pipeline on LGBTQ+ youth of color and the need for inclusive, age-appropriate gender and sexuality/comprehensive sexual education curriculums
in K-12 schools.
