The Rules of the Game - Why You Need to Read Division 01 on Your Projects

Your product isn't the basis of design or an approved equal?

The contractor wants to provide something other than what you specified?

The substitution process is critical to protecting design intent and allowing other appropriate products to be considered.  Understanding the substitution process is important for both specifiers and product representatives.

The submittal process is a very important quality control process.  For specifiers, this is “see before you buy”.  For product representative, this is how you express you understanding of the specification requirements.

The program will review the definition of substitution and reasons why a substitution may be submitted on a project.  Understanding how to properly submit a substitution request is an important strategy.

The submittal process will be explored as a vital component of a building project along with determining how to properly assemble submittals to ensure a smooth approval process.

Michael Chambers brings this program to our Chapter fresh from his CONSTRUCT presentation in October. Michael is an engaging speaker, a Fellow in both AIA and CSI, and the Senior Project Specifier at HGA.
