A Weekend Focused on Emotional Emancipation

Whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind.--Marcus Garvey

PLEASE SAVE THE DATES

Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21, 2014

Please join the Community Healing Network for A Weekend Focused on Emotional Emancipation

Special Guests:

Dr. Taasogle Daryl Rowe and Dr. Cheryl Tawede Grills President and Immediate Past President of the Association of Black Psychologists and leaders of the team of psychologists developing the template for Emotional Emancipation Circles-- a "within-group" process for helping to address the historical and continuing trauma of racism.

We value the work you are doing to transform the Black community. We want to share with you the work we have been doing to build the movement for emotional emancipation, discuss why we believe such a movement is essential, and learn from you how we can best work together to transform conditions in our community.

Each of these action-focused conversations will build on the one before it. We hope you will join us for as many of these three events as you can.

Why?

James Baldwin said, “people are trapped in history and history is trapped in them.” To which we at Community Healing Network say to all in the Black community, "let's plan our escape."

The list of assaults on the dignity and lives of Black people is long and still growing. These assaults are rooted in racism and they will not end unless and until we dismantle its foundations. Read more.

Please join us for Friday’s lunch, dinner, and/or Saturday’s workshop.

Space is limited. Please register by June 16, 2014.
