Education Class - Wetland Delineation and Mitigation: Fundamentals for Real Estate Development 

Do you want to know more about wetlands delineation and mitigation?  Do you understand how wetlands can affect your building site or a potential sale? 

Instructor Patrice Cole of Stormwater & Wetland Consultants will give you a basic understanding of what wetlands are, the different types of wetlands, wetland functions and values, the history of regulatory protection of wetlands, the procedure for obtaining a wetland delineation and determination from the Corps of Engineers, the wetland mitigation process, and sources of mitigation credits. 

This course is especially important for those working in St. Tammany Parish and other parts of south Louisiana where wetlands frequently occur and can be a major impediment to a real estate transaction.  Upon completion of this course you will:   

1. be knowledgeable of the potential impact of wetlands on their ability to sell a property
2. know what is needed ahead of time before being contacted by a potential buyer
3. be better prepared to interact and negotiate with regulators and wetland delineation/mitigation professionals
4. know what the options are for complying with wetland regulations and policies
5. appreciate the reasons for this seemingly burdensome requirement.
