Georgia TIME Task Force Quarterly Meeting

April 17, 2018 

The GA TIME Task Force will hold their next quarterly meeting on April 17, 2018. Take this opportunity to have lunch and network with other first responders and personnel involved in all aspects of traffic incident management. Following lunch there will be an hour long presentation. RSVP strongly preferred.

Renew Atlanta / TPLOST Projects

Garfield L. Peart - MBA, AIA, NOMA, LEED Green Assoc.

  • Garfield Peart is the Program Management Officer for Vertical Portfolio of the RenewAtlanta Bond Infrastructure Program. He is directly responsible for management of theVertical Renew Atlanta staff, coordinating the development of Portfolio and project levelscopes, schedules and budgets with project staff, and assuring that all requisite approvalsare obtained as required. As PMO, he administers the over $65 million dollar portfoliowhich comprises of citywide and local projects. 

North Avenue Smart Corridor Project 

Keary Lord - Intelligent Transportation Systems/Traffic Manager, Atkins

  • Keary has over 25 years of combined civil, transportation, and ITS engineering experiences with both the public and private sectors. Most recently, Keary delivered the City’s North Avenue Smart Corridor Project consisting of Smart City and Internet of Things (IoT) applications including connected vehicle infrastructure, an autonomous vehicle (AV) demonstration and he is managing the City’s Connected and Autonomous Vehicle deployment in Midtown Atlanta. 

Accident Report Information

Bill Williams - GDOT, Crash Analyst

  • Bill  has been involved in public safety for over 35+ years; 10 years U.S. Air Force Security Police; 25 years EMT-Paramedic; and 3 years 911 Communications Officer.  He is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree In Geographic Information Sciences through the University of Arizona via their online program.  He has been with GDOT in the Crash Reporting office since October 2017. 
  • Presentation:  In January 2018, GDOT in conjunction with our Law Enforcement partners has developed a new Georgia Uniform Motor Vehicle Accident Report – GDOT 523 (7-17).  This new report conforms with NITSA’s Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria (MMUCC) standards.  These changes were completed in order to obtain very high quality data to increase our traffic safety reporting system. 

Secondary Incident Presentation  

Max Malloy, GDOT ITS Traffic Specialist

  • Max will present information on secondry incidents collected thru GEARS data.  This information will illustrate ways to potentially predict the probabliity of secondary incidents based on the time and distance from the initial incident
