Please join the SAME Sacramento Post for a field tour of the Lower Elkhorn Basin Levee Setback Project and hear presentations on the status and future of the overall Yolo Bypass expansion program from California Department of Water Resources (DWR), USACE Sacramento District, and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency (SAFCA). This project is part of the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan (CVFPP) to provide flood safety for approximately 780,000 people by reducing river levels in the Sacramento River through increasing the capacity of the Yolo and Sacramento Bypasses. The project consists of approximately 7 miles of setback levees in the Lower Elkhorn Basin along the east side of the Yolo Bypass, and the north side of the Sacramento Bypass.
Tour attendees will meet at the parking lot located on County Road 124 (off of Old River Road) in Yolo County and consolidate into large vans. Google Maps directions from USACE Sacramento District Office (Downtown Sacramento) to County Road 124: https://goo.gl/maps/ce4iJptaz6vRhvPbA.
