Crowdfunding Using KickStarter |
Oxford Hills SCORE is pleased to offer a new workshop to small businesses in the community who wish to understand what is involved in using KickStarter to raise funds for a project to create anything you dream up that can be shared with others including a new business or new products. You will learn first-hand, from an existing KickStarter user, what this means and what the KickStarter rules require for your project including clear end goals.
This workshop will cover:
Our instructors are Jayson Lobozzo and Nick Kline from DemerBox™ in Portland, Maine, who, along with founder Jim Demer, successfully funded their business using KickStarter this past Fall with more than $83,000 raised. They build rugged, wireless, waterproof, Bluetooth,
great sounding boom boxes. Check out their KickStarter video on https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/demerbox/demerbox-rugged-wireless-boomboxes prior to attending this workshop!
Jason Lobozzo, Nick Kline and James Demer from DemerBox
James Demer is DemerBox’s President and a location audio engineer. He has worked on shows like NBC’s Survivor and Discovery Channel’s Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls. He mixed sound for the Academy Award winning film Bowling for Columbine, and for Winter’s Bone, which was nominated for four Academy Awards. He is an avid sound engineer with in-depth knowledge of the circuits and sound that set the DemerBox apart.
Jayson Lobozzo, Vice-President, is an independent video producer and cameraman. His ideal job is directing and producing advertisements for DemerBox all day long. In the meantime, he
is the de facto shop manager, and ensures that every DemerBox is assembled to our exacting quality standards.
Nick Kline is a second-year law student at the University of Maine. In the summer of 2014, he was awarded the Bride Family Entrepreneurial Fellowship to work with DemerBox, where, in-between sweeping the floors and packaging customer orders, he helped coordinate the KickStarter campaign for DemerBox.
