Cyber Security Risk Management Workshop Features Experts in Operations and Insurance

The topic of Cyber Security has gotten a lot of attention in our professional development programs this year, and the recent publicity about threats such as WanaCry and other "ransomworm" internet attacks suggests we consider spending time on this increasingly important issue.

With a focus on risk management, PAISBOA will host a workshop on Wednesday, June 21 from 10 am-12 noon that will bring together cyber experts in Operations and Insurance. They will discuss a range of solutions that schools should strongly consider as part of their strategic planning. Business Managers and Tech Directors are invited to the program in hopes they will discuss the challenges of their own cyber security and the questions they undoubtedly have.

Our speakers will include Bob Olsen, President of COMPASS (Comprehensive Applied Security Solutions) in Baltimore, who presented at our Technology Group meeting last fall. COMPASS already works with over 3 dozen Independent Schools, and PAISBOA is in the final stages of negotiating an agreement with them for services to our membership.

Also presenting will be Austin Morris Jr. of Morris Risk Management LLC, an insurance broker and cyber security consulting firm in Jenkintown. We met Austin though our friends at ISM, who provide Officers and Director Liability Insurance to our Property and Casualty Insurance Program. Austin currently is working with ISM to develop insurance products which focus on the many Cyber Security risks common to schools.

Among the topics to be considered:

  • Personal Information about Students
  • Personal and Financial Information about Families and Donors
  • Health Information about Everyone in the School Community
  • Personal Information about Employees and Volunteers

Please join us from 10 am to Noon on Wednesday, June 21 for a lively discussion on the challenges and solutions of cyber security, a topic that, unfortunately, is not going away.
