PANEL DESCRIPTIONS

The Power of Prosecutors

Prosecutors are a powerful adversary with a powerful infrastructure. During this session, we’ll discuss the opportunities we have in 2017 and 2018 to engage with elected District Attorneys, and support local and statewide infrastructures that are creating accountability structures and building power in local communities.

Ending Poverty Jailing

According to Color of Change’s and ACLU’s bail industry report, around 450,000 people— approximately 70 percent of all people in jail—sit in jails across the United States though they remain innocent in the eyes of the law, simply because they cannot afford to pay bail. Hear directly from some of the advocates working on ending poverty jailing while building community power through powerful actions like the National Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Bail Outs.

501(c)(4) Training Sessions for Funders and Advocates

Are you a funder who’d like to step up their c4 funding game, but have questions about how? Are you an advocate who wants to engage in c4 work, but have questions about how? During this interactive session with a leading c4 attorney, as well as staff from Tides Advocacy (the 501c4 of Tides), get all of your questions answered.

Inspiration from the Sunshine State

This candid conversation will feature three inspirational movement leaders working in Florida to build power from the ground up to change policy, end youth incarceration, restore voting rights, and create second chances for the formerly incarcerated.

Building Black Political Power

Both established as well as new, black-led 501c4s are building black political power. Learn about some of their 2018 electoral strategies and the resources they need to advance this critical work.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.  Please contact us with any questions or if you need anymore information.
