FOOD & BIDDING ON WONDERFUL AUCTION ITEMS!
All procceds of our Celebration of Service support D.C. Law Students in Court's excellent legal assistance to ensure justice for the District of Columbia’s low income community. LSIC represents people-in-need as unique individuals while teaching litigation, negotiation and counseling skills, and instilling within our graduates an understanding of their role as guardians of the Constitution and our nation’s promise of justice for all.
We will present this year’s Celebration of Service Award to David W. DeBruin, a partner of Jenner & Block, LLP, to honor his extraordinary contributions to the DC community and beyond. The 2009 DC Bar’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year, Mr. DeBruin’s pro bono work has extended from representing indigent individuals in criminal, child custody, public disability benefits and probate matters in the DC Superior Court to representing an individual on death row in Georgia. Prior to joining Jenner, he was also law clerk to Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens and Judge Harry T. Edwards of the United States Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, and was a trial lawyer at the Public Defenders Service for the District of Columbia.
