The Champaign County Republican Party is hosting a candidates forum for voters of the Illinois 13th Congressional District to meet the individuals seeking the candidate nomination to replace retiring congressman Rep. Tim Johnson. Chairman Habeeb is committed to an open and transparent nomination process and encourages all registered voters residing in the 13th congressional district to submit questions for the candidates and attend the forum. The 14 Republican County Chairman who represent the district are expected to select the nominee on Saturday, May 19.
What: #AskIL13 Candidates Forum. Each candidate will have five minutes to introduce themselves prior to a joint question and answer session.
When: Saturday, May 12, 2012 6:00-8:00PM (Doors will open at 5:15pm)
Where: Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center, Champaign
Who: The four Republican finalists seeking the nomination to replace Congressman Tim Johnson on the ballot for the 13th Congressional District: Jerry Clarke, Rodney Davis, Erika Harold, Kathy Wassink. The forum will be moderated by Habeeb Habeeb, Champaign County Republican Party Chairman and voting member of the 13th Congressional District Committee.
How to submit questions for the candidates: During the Q&A session, the moderator will ask each of the candidates questions that were submitted by voters of the 13th Congressional district. Voters are encouraged to tweet questions to @ChampaignGOP with hashtag #AskIL13 or submit their questions on the forum registration form linked below by 10AM on Saturday, May 12. Forum attendees will also be able to submit questions via a form at the event.
