Each year, Capitol Weekly’s Top 100 names the most powerful movers and shakers in California politics. We don’t include elected officials. Instead, we look at those who devote their professional lives to fighting for – or against – issues of state politics and policy, including lobbyists, bureaucrats, activists, trade group leaders, Capitol staffers and even journalists.

This year, Capitol Weekly will unveil the Tenth Anniversary Top 100 List at a lively end-of-session reception on Tuesday, August 14. You’re invited to celebrate with us at this very special mixer.  Enjoy a hosted bar, delicious snacks and live entertainment from the Little Charlie Caravan in one of the most beautiful historic settings in the city. You’ll have fun! You’ll be the first to receive a copy of Capitol Weekly’s 2018 Top 100 Book!

Open California was founded in 2012 to continue - and expand on - the important public policy work done by Capitol Weekly.

Six years later, Open California is growing.  We've maintained a grueling schedule: regular updates to CapitolWeekly.net, the Roundup, The Capitol Weekly Podcast and Political Pulse, produced our quarterly Public Policy Conference series and our Politics on Tap TV show, and our Public Policy Journalism internship program.
