9th Annual SLEEC Retreat

Saturday 21st September, 2019

The 8th Annual SLEEC Retreat (St. Louis Ecology, Evolution and Conservation) will take place on Saturday, September 21st, hosted by the National Great Rivers Research Education Center. The retreat will be held in the Commons building at the Godfrey Campus of Lewis and Clark Community College, located at 5800 Godfrey Rd, Godfrey, IL 62035 (about 30 minutes north of St. Louis). Check-in is from 8:00-9:00 a.m., with the retreat running until 5:00 p.m. Full details (including schedule) will be posted closer to the date, and will be included in participants registration package. Note there are only 16 speaking slots in total, so contact either your institutional representative or Tony Dell (tonyidell@gmail.com) if you would like to be considered for a seminar (only 1-3 speakers per institution).

The keynote speaker will be Jason Rohr who will speak about "Biodiversity and disease".

Registration is free and is essential for all speakers and poster presenters, and to secure lunch. On-site registration is possible, but is discouraged so we can best plan seating and coffee breaks. Contact Tony Dell if you have any questions.

Got kids and need daycare in order to make the retreat? If so, email Tony Dell ASAP and if there is enough interest we will endeavor to organize daycare facilities, probably for a small fee (e.g., $15 per kid for the entire day)

DINNER
The retreat dinner event will take place at NGRREC from 6:00-9:00 p.m., located on the banks of the Mississippi River (address is 1 Confluence Way, East Alton, IL 62024). The dinner will be family friendly, and you are welcome to bring other guests. Cost is $20 per person (children under 11 free) and includes buffet-style dinner and non-alcoholic drinks. A cash bar will be available. No onsite registration for dinner (unless you don't want to eat!). We will have tours available of the unique NGRREC building (see image below), including the riverview room, laboratory facilities, outdoor river mesocosms, and the green roof which is amazing at sunset!
.
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION (i.e., retreat lunch and the dinner event at NGRREC) is: WEDNESDAY 11th SEPTEMBER
The NGRREC Field Station, where the dinner event will be held.
