      Coping with Challenging People with Style and Grace

Learn the most effective strategies for dealing with challenging individuals—from strangers to co-workers to friends and family—by characterizing the four major personalities and identifying specific methods to cope with them in every aspect of life.

Participants will learn how to:

     • Recognize and respond to different types of difficult people;

     • Use self-protection strategies;

     • Minimize toxic behavior in any situation;

     • Enhance one's emotional intelligence;and

     • How to have a difficult conversations and influence positive change.

                                                  Presenter: Jim Ryan Having worked in the non-profit world for over 30       years, Jim specializes in the areas of social work and public health. For 20 years, Jim led a team which provided support to non-profit organizations and coalitions to address public health issues in their communities. Currently, Jim is the Training and Development Manager for the Greater Lawrence Community Health Center, where he conducts leadership and management training programs. Jim provides consulting and trainings to organizations in such areas as: strategic planning, action planning, grant writing, running meetings, working with difficult people, emotional intelligence, having difficult conversations, stress reduction, and time management. In addition, Jim teaches at Salem State University as an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Social Work.
