A Cleaner Climate with Chemical Safety

Through a grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance (OTA), CMRPC will be conducting workshops designed to build awareness and educate Local and Regional Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs and REPCs), first responders, and community stakeholders about toxic chemicals in their communities. This effort will build sustainable and replicable models for incorporating toxics use reduction into emergency preparedness and climate change resiliency planning.

This first training event is intended to help communities better understand, evaluate, and manage chemical hazards. We will review basic strategies, cost effective solutions, case studies, and other tools for improving chemical safety and emergency planning. Emergency pre-plan and plan templates will be provided and reviewed.

The event is free but RSVP required. Light refreshments will be served.

Who Should Attend? Local & Regional Emergency Planning Councils, Municipal & State Facility Operators, Local & State Officials, Department of Public Works Personnel, Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTWs), State HAZMAT Teams, First Responders, Public Health Personnel, City Planners, Public Servants, Community Groups, and Other Interested Parties.

*This training offers AICP CM | 2.5 credits and 3 Training Contact Hours (TCH) by MassDEP and the MA Board of Building Regulations and Standards
