Consumer Direct Care Network Colorado

Consumer Direct Colorado is partnering with the Colorado Respite Coalition and Easterseals Colorado to host our first Lunch and Learn, and lunch is provided!

This Lunch and Learn will focus on the topic of Standard Precautions! Standard Precautions is an approach to safety in caregiving situations, both at work and at home, to prevent the spread of infections that can be transmitted through contact with blood and body fluids. After taking this training, participants will be able to:

-      Define Standard Precautions

-      Reduce their risk of contracting an infectious disease

-      Outline strategies to control and prevent the spread of infectious disease

-      Follow an Exposure Control Plan if exposed to an infectious disease

About the Trainer:

Peggy Brown, RN, BSN, directs the Discovery Club program at Easterseals Colorado. This day-program provides weekend respite care for youth with special health care needs and their siblings, during the winter and spring months. Peggy also works as a school nurse in the Denver Metro area.

Who Should Attend?

This training is designed for individuals who receive support and their families, including family and professional caregivers. Space is limited!

The Consumer Directed Attendant Support Services (CDASS) delivery option requires that Clients or their Authorized Representative train the attendants they hire. CDCO is committed to empowering clients using consumer direction to be independent and have the tools they need to direct their care. CDASS Clients and their Attendants are encouraged to attend and learn the techniques and guidelines to ensure they have a safe work place. This training is optional and is not a requirement for those on CDASS. http://consumerdirectco.com/

The Colorado Respite Coalition is an allied network of families, agencies and community partners working to strengthen and support professional and family caregivers of individuals with any special health care needs, throughout the state. The CRC is housed at Easterseals Colorado, one of Colorado’s oldest nonprofits serving people with disabilities and other special needs through employment services, activity camps, stroke rehabilitation, community-based programs and more. Discover us at: www.coloradorespitecoalition.org and http://www.easterseals.com/co/

Special Accommodations

Free Lunch will be served, we will make every effort to fulfill accommodations and dietary restrictions. Please include any requests when registering. Everyone that participates will receive a certificate of completion in Standard Precautions.

We hope you can make it!
