Learn how to reach clients in a new

and meaningful way

Mindfulness Meditation has been extensively studied in clinical settings. The benefits include: improved emotional regulation, decreased stress and anxiety, improved mood and social connection, increased compassion and increased creativity and problem solving abilities. This workshop, both experiential and didactic, will teach clinicians how Mala Beads can be used to cultivate the benefits of mindfulness with clients.

The Mala, which consists of 108 beads, is traditionally used for counting the repetition of a mantra during meditation. Today, many people wear their Mala Beads as a necklace or bracelet as a reminder of their personal or spiritual intentions. Join Krista Lynn, Kim Bradle, CYT, and Scottie Urmey, LCSW to learn how mindfulness meditation and the creative process of Mala making can facilitate clinical practices.

Tuition: $100

Included with tuition:

Materials for each participant to make their own Mala necklace

Continuing Education certificate

Supplemental educational and instructional materials

Light refreshments

Krista Lynn Eggering, Jewelry Designer and Creative Spiritual Workshop Facilitator, has been teaching the making of your very own Mala Beads for over 13 years and firmly believes in the process as well as the beneficial uses of Mala Beads.  She will guide workshop participants through the mindful and creative experience of Mala making, teaching participants how to engage client intuition, tap into creativity, and provide a meaningful experience of self discovery through the demonstration.

Kim Bradle, Certified Yoga & Meditation Teacher, will demonstrate how the Mala can be utilized as a tool for mindfulness by guiding workshop participants through a mindfulness meditation practice and providing examples of how mindfulness meditation can be tailored to the lifestyle and personality of your clients.

Scottie Urmey, LCSW, TEP, will educate participants on the efficacy of expressive arts and mindfulness based interventions in clinical practice settings. Scottie will draw on the research and teachings of Jacob Moreno, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Thich Nhat Hanh, Dan Siegel, Tara Brach, and Jack Kornfield to educate participants about the benefits of mindfulness practices and creative processes in clinical treatment settings as well as the benefits of such practices in self-care practices for professionals.
