Day 1- Introduction to Compounding

This course covers an introductory level of formulating elastomer compounds.  Topics include raw material selection, construction of formulations and basic troubleshooting of compounds.

Day 3- Introduction to Mixing

The mixing portion of this course covers many topics dealing with Internal Mixers and Mixing Parameters (the things that affect rubber mixing).

  • Brief history of mixing equipment
  • What an internal mixer is and some of its different options
  • Different types of rotors and how they differ
  • The influence of various mechanical and non-mechanical parameters and the effects they have on
    •  rubber mixing
    • production uniformity
    • wear and damage
    • the mixing process
  • Actual examples of problems encountered in the field, what caused them and how they were resolved
