Mike and Susan Fredrickson (supported by Carole Wilder) are volunteers partnering with Bethany’s Gait in creating opportunities for our fellow equine enthusiasts.  Our goal is to create an enjoyable environment where we challenge ourselves and our horses to advance our skills while enjoying the friendship and camaraderie of other riders.  The upside of this is that 100% of the proceeds go directly to benefit a fantastic 501(c)(3) charity – Bethany’s Gait - to support their programs.

Bethany's Gait is dedicated to "Rescuing Horses, Restoring Lives".  The programs offered by Bethany's Gait were created specifically for active duty, reserve and veteran military personnel, first responders and their families.  One of the things that makes the program unique is that Bethany's Gait is also a horse rescue.  They have found that bringing the rescue horses together with the people offers a dynamic situation where horses and humans heal through a bond that is developed based on unconditional love, unwavering trust and a keen understanding of what the other has been through.  Bethany's Gait is a 501(c)(3) non-profit ranch in Prescott, AZ.

Our events at Bumble Bee Ranch in Bumble Bee, AZ are a highlight for out-of-staters as well as valley residents.   You will be in the upper  Sonoran Desert riding through saguaro, palo verde and mesquite while enjoying some of the best views in Arizona!!!

Friday, November 17 - Natural Horsemanship Training Clinic:  "On the Ground and Under Saddle"  presented by Michael Fredrickson and "Horse Management" presented by Josie Fredrikson - 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Cost is $140 for Wild Rose Contest competitors.  $170 for all others.  Limited to 12 participants.  Please call Carole at 602-686-2435 to be put on the Clinic List.  Mail your check for appropriate fee, made payable to Michael Fredrickson, to Carole Wilder, P.O. Box 371, Waddell, AZ  85355.  Payment in full holds your spot.

TRAIL COMPETITIONS ARRIVALS:  No arrivals before noon on Friday, please.  

Competition limited to 50 competitors per day.  You will travel through Bumble Bee Creek  and the terrain is varied – there are hills, ravines, canyons, washes and rocky places - shoes or boots recommended.

PICK YOUR LEVEL AND RIDE THAT LEVEL ALL DAY!!

DOGS:  All dogs must be on a leash at all times.  If left unattended, they must be kept in your trailer and not disturb other people.  Please pick up after your dog.  NO DOGS ALLOWED ON THE TRAIL.  This is coyote country - DO NOT tie your dog to the trailer and leave unattended!

SHOES AND BOOTS RECOMMENDED.

ONLY ONE HORSE PER COMPETITOR ALLOWED ON SITE FOR ENTIRE WEEKEND.  

 FEES:

NO MEMBERSHIP FEES!!!!

Online Registration Fees Payable until November 14:    Adult - $55.00 per day; Youth - $25.00 per day; Companion - $25.00 per day.

Ride registration closes on November 14 or upon attaining 50 riders per day - whichever comes first.

Late Registration Fees - CASH ONLY - Payable at Registration Day:   Adult- $65.00 per day; Youth - $35.00 per day; Companion- $35.00 per day.

You will pay Kelly at check-in for any of the following items.  

Lodging in the Big House:    Rent a bed in the Big House.   Call Kelly at 623-374-0002for details and to reserve your spot.  

Parking and Camping:   Day parking: $10.00 per vehicle per day.  Dry camping: $15.00 per vehicle per night. Electrical hookups:  $30.00 per vehicle per night (limited).  Electrical hookup with water:  $40.00 per night.  Full Hookups:  $50.00 per night.  Dump station on site.

Stalls:    YOU CLEAN (YOU FEED AND CLEAN).  $20.00 per pen per night for the first horse.  There is a $20.00 penalty fee if you leave your stall dirty when you depart.  Place manure 4 feet outside of pen for tractor pickup.  

WE CLEAN (YOU FEED AND WE CLEAN).  $25.00 per pen per night for the first horse.   Some pens hold up to three horses.  You feed your own horses with your own feed.  We clean the pen once daily if you pick the "We Clean" option.  

You can also use YOUR OWN high ties, electric fence, panels or tie to the Bumble Bee Ranch fence but not near a water spicket.  -- No fee for using your own equipment.

Breakfast reservations (Saturday & Sunday):  $15.00 per person. Scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, bagels, cereal, toast, orange juice, milk, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, soda and water.

Bag lunches (Friday, Saturday, Sunday):  $8.00 per lunch.  Roast beef or turkey sandwich with cheese, chips or granola bar, soda and water.  Bag lunches are limited so be sure to order your lunch ahead of time -- once they are gone, they are gone.

Dinner (FRIDAY):  $15.00 per person.  Friday:  spaghetti with meatballs, Caesar salad, Texas toast, brownie with ice cream, soda, water, cofee, tea, hot chocolate.  Saturday:  hamburger/hot dogs, boca burgers on request, cowboy beans, potato salad, chips, condiments, cookies, soda, water, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

Dinner (SATURDAY):  $35.00 per person.  Baby Back BBQ pork ribs and BBQ chicken tenderloins, spring mix salad, baked potato, corn on the cob, green beans, dinner rolls, apple pie with ice creram, soda, water, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.  

Cash bar:  $2.50 domestic beer; $3.00 wine and specialty drinks; $5.00 mixed drinks.

We will use the large pavillion for all meetings, meals and award presentations.

8:00 a.m.  Morning Huddle - No horses - Introductions; discussion of day's activities; review manual; discuss training philosophies

9:30 a.m. Round Pen, Lunging and "Hooking-On" Demonstration

10:30 a.m. Break

10:45 a.m. Ground work - in hand, halter, no saddle

12:00 a.m. Break (grab lunch and come back for Horse Management Presentation)

12:15 p.m. Horse Management

1:45  p.m. Saddle up

2:00 p.m. On Horse Back; prepare to do things we did on ground earlier plus additional items

4:30 p.m. Clinic ends

Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19 – Obstacle Trail Contests:

7:00 - 7:45 a.m.   Breakfast available until 7:45 a.m. – reserve and pay Kelly at check-in 

 7:00 -8:00 a.m.   Check in, sign up for ride out time

10:00 a.m.           First Riders out on course

Awards                Half hour after last rider is back

DIRECTIONS:  23925 S. Bumble Bee Ranch Road, Bumble Bee, AZ  86333.  Bumble Bee Ranch is located approximately 50 miles north of Phoenix, or 100 miles south of Flagstaff.  Take Interstate I-17 north from {Phoenix, south from Flagstaff.)  Bumble Bee Ranch is about 5 miles north of Black Canyon City.  Watch for Wild Rose signs.  Take Exit 248 to Bumble Bee/Crown King.  From Phoenix make a left at the stop sign, from Flagstaff make a right.  Follow the road:  1 mile paved, 4 miles dirt.  After crossing the stone bridge, the ranch is 1/2 mile on the right.  Come on in, enter through the stone entrance, head for the office to begin your adventure.  Whew, you made it.  If you reach the Historical Town of Bumble Bee, 6 cabins and the Old School House, you have gone a bit too far.

GREAT ROUTE TO AVOID GOING THROUGH CENTRAL PHOENIX, I-17 AND I-10:

Coming from south of Phoenix:  Use the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway West.  Get off I-10 at the Loop 202 San Tan Freeway and go west.  You will exit the 202 at I-10 at approximately 59^th Avenue.   Go west on I-10 to 303 North which will take you back to I-17 north of Phoenix.
