The World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) has selected fourteen cities to host a series of discussions on trade and investment between the United States and the European Union (EU).  Our co-host for the event is the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED).
This is a full-day event, and you can participate in all of the sessions or just selected ones. There is no need to register for each one.  Our keynote speaker during the Luncheon is the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Mr. Linas Linkevicius.  Mr. Linkevicius was Ambassador and Head of Mission of Lithuania to NATO and the WEU.  Besides NATO, he is also formerly a member of the Lithuanian Parliament, Minister of National Defense of Lithuania.  He is a member of the Executive Board for the European Leadership Network (ELN).  Mr. Linkevicius has been instrumental in the recent negotiations between Ukraine, Russia and the EU countries. 
 
Acclaimed Steinway Artist and the winner of the International Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, Mr. Edvinas Minkstimas, will be performing during the Luncheon. 
 
 The following sessions will discuss topics on the European Union and the US:
 

9:00 - 10:00am     UNLV Boyd Law School presenting on "Transnational and National Law in the EU: Is Harmonization Possible?"

10:00- 11:00am    Governor's Office on Economic Development presenting on "The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and Nevada's role in the global economy with the focus on EU". This session will be lead by Lithuania's Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Zygimantas Pavilionis.  

11:00 -12:15pm    Sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, a panel discussion on “E.U.-U.S. Economic Relations:  Promise & Prospects” that will highlight the functions of the European Central Bank and the role of banking institutions in facilitating risk management and fund flows, within the context of ever-growing economic and financial ties between the United States and European Community countries. 

12:00 - 2:00pm     Luncheon with Keynote speaker and Concert with internationally acclaimed concert pianist from Lithuania, Edvinas Minkstimas

2:00 - 3:00pm    GOED Wrap-up Session
