For several years now, turmoil in this critical region has dominated the world’s headlines.  Starting with the Arab Spring in Tunisia and Egypt, the state system that emerged under Western tutelage following World War I has come under increasing strain, and threatens breakdown in several key countries.  Beyond the human toll and mass social disruption exacted regionally by ongoing developments, their ripple effects on the stability of global energy supply, growth in international terrorism, and the future military entanglement of the U.S. and other major Powers in the area are many and complex.

Jabber     Dr. Paul Jabber, a member of WACLV’s Board of Directors, will offer his insights into the root causes and future evolution of the current challenges facing key Middle East countries, drawing on a lifetime of involvement with the region in academia, investment banking, risk-management advisories, and his service in 2001-2009 as the scholar-in-residence at CIA’s Counterterrorism Center.
