Overview:   This workshop addresses many of the legal issues of critical importance to the formation and success of new and existing small businesses.

The topics covered include:

  • How to choose the best type of legal entity for your business
  • How to deal with government regulations affecting your business
  • How to determine whether your workers are employees or independent contractors
  • Types of insurance you should have for your business
This workshop is taught by Neil Rubenstein, Attorney and Counselor with the East Bay Chapter of SCORE.

  Neil Rubenstein retired in February 2015 from his position as a shareholder in a San Francisco law firm.  During his 38-year career as an attorney, he worked with banks and other companies on a wide variety of finance, business and real estate matters.  He currently is a counselor for SCORE and serves on the boards of directors of two non-profit corporations.  He received his B.A. degree from UCLA in 1974 and his J.D. degree from UCLA School of Law in 1977.
