Legal Issues for the Small Business (Oakland)

Overview: This workshop addresses many of the legal issues of critical importance to the formation and success of new and existing small businesses.
The topics covered include:
- Choosing the best form of ownership
- Obtaining business permits and satisfying other government requirements
- Determining whether your workers are employees or independent contractors
- Finding the right insurance
Neil Rubenstein is an attorney, a SCORE counselor, and Chair of SCORE East Bay. He retired in February 2015 from his position as a shareholder in a San Francisco law firm. During his 38-year career as a practicing attorney, he worked with banks and other companies on a wide variety of finance, business and real estate matters. He received his B.A. degree from UCLA in 1974 and his J.D. degree from UCLA School of Law in 1977.
