Overview:
Microsoft Excel is a powerful tool that has now become fundamental in many business operations. Having a strong Excel background can make many tasks, such as analyzing stocks, inventory tracking, or budgeting, more efficient. However, with its expansive functions, it can be daunting to figure out where exactly to start learning.
If you are unfamiliar with Excel or just want to brush up on the basics, then this workshop is for you. By the end of this interactive workshop, you will gain valuable and foundational knowledge in one of the most important business tools, and Excel will no longer seem intimidating!
This workshop aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the platform and will demonstrate ways in which its functions can be applied to real data and business scenarios. In this session, you will learn:
- Excel Formulas and Functions
- Basic Formulas including: SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTA, IF, MAX, MIN
- Smart data entry: autofill, flash fill
- Data Formatting
- Header/Footer
- Print settings
- Fonts/Alignment/Cell Formatting/Shading/Borders
- Conditional formatting
- Data Cleaning and Manipulation
- Functions such as: sort, filter
- Data validation
- Lookup Functions (for example: VLookup)
- Building Professional Charts
- Regression graphs
- Pivot Tables
- Sliders Timeline
- Transferring graphs to PowerPoint slides

The Community Service Committee of the Ascend UC Berkeley Student Chapter aims to explore the intersection between social responsibility and business.
