About Our Speaker

James P. King, MBA, CFP ®

Mr. King is the President and founder of J.P. King Advisors, Inc., a registered investment advisory firm located in Walnut Creek, California. The firm, founded in 1981 and consisting of five professionals and four support staff, serves a clientele of approximately 275 executives, professionals and business owners.

 

Mr. King’s educational qualifications include both Bachelor of Arts (1969) and Master of Business Administration (1977) degrees from Stanford University, and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) credential from the College for Financial Planning (1984).

 

Jim has been active in business and community affairs for many years. He currently serves as a pro- bono Advisor to Inner City Advisors in Oakland, Ca. He also currently serves as a director of Fund Good Jobs, Inc., a non-profit based in Oakland, Ca. He is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA®) and previously served five years on the Board of the East Bay Chapter of the IAFP, including being its President and Chairman.

 

Mr. King has been quoted in numerous publications, and has appeared on radio and T.V. From 1996 through 2002 he was named by WORTH magazine as one of the Best Financial Advisers in America.

Jerry Mosher CFP®

 

Jerry Mosher is President of Mosher & Ellis Financial Planning Inc., a Registered Investment Advisor. With more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Jerry was one of the first financial planners in the Bay Area – providing financial planning services even before it was widely known as a profession.

 

Jerry graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance, entered the financial planning business in 1971, and incorporated Mosher & Ellis in 1984. He holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation and is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA®)for which he held several past roles including that of President.

 

In 1998, Jerry was named by Medical Economics as one of “the 120 best financial advisors for doctors.” He repeated the bi-annual honor in 2000, 2002, and 2004 when he was recognized as one of “the 150 best…” He has served as a speaker and panelist at various industry programs, has been quoted in several newspaper articles and was featured in a financial planning program aired on PBS. More recently he served, for three years, as the monthly financial columnist for MD News, a Bay Area regional publication for medical professionals.

Maureen Richardson, CFP® 

Maureen Richardson is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Maureen is a solo practitioner that does comprehensive financial planning for individuals and families.  Maureen is also the author of "Til Money Do Us Part," a book written for couples to help them become financially ready for marriage.

 

Maureen started her investment career early by working her way through college as a broker's assistant at Merrill Lynch. With a finance degree from Kent State University, Maureen moved to Manhattan to work for the former EF Hutton & Co. From New York.  Maureen then moved to Northern California to work as a compliance examiner for the National Association of Securities Dealers. Maureen then went on to Charles Schwab and Co. where she led projects in their branch and corporate audit department.  She began financial planning with IDS/American Express Financial Advisors and went independent with Commonwealth Financial Network in 2013. 

 

Maureen has been Series 7 registered (the General Securities Exam) since 1985 and completed her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 1996.
