Using NVivo for your literature review

An ISSR Short Course by Jackie Stein

Description:

Literature reviews require you to organize large amounts of information into themes, tie pieces of information to references, and synthesize patterns. Fortunately, these are all tasks for which NVivo was explicitly designed.

This workshop will help you think through how you might use NVivo to organize your literature review, including storing many types of information in one place, coding your reading lists and your references, querying to find the piece of information you’re looking for, and importing bibliographic data from EndNote, Zotero, RefWorks, or Mendeley. Note, however, that NVivo will not serve as cite-as-you-write software.

You’ll get the most out of this workshop if you already understand the basics of how NVivo works and have gained some comfort navigating its workspace.
