About the Course

The course was developed by nationally known experts in the ER/LA opioid field.  ASAM’s REMS course is CO*RE-branded material, but will also include a special focus on addiction medicine.  Participants can earn up to 3 AMA PRA Category 1 CME credit(s)™ upon completion of the course assessment and evaluation.

Who Should Attend

This is important to stress as training is geard for all prescribers of ER/LA Opioids and all those affected by the prescription of ER/LA Opioids. 

This includes: physicians, primary care physicians, addiction medicine physicians, physician’s assistance, pain specialists, advanced practice nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, psychiatrists, neurologists, psychologists, therapists, and clinicians

Event Logistics

Continental breakfast will be provided. 

Parking: Parking is on your own.  Please use the Halsted Street Parking Structure, located across the street from the Student Center East.  There are two visitor entrances for your convenience: Taylor Street (760 W. Taylor St) or Halsted Street (801 S. Halsted St).  Estimated parking fee is $13.00. 

Do not use the metered lot adjacent to the Parking Structure.

About the Presenters

Kirk Moberg, MD, PhD, FASAM, is the Executive Medical Director for the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery and Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry, University of Illinois College of Medicine.  He was most recently the Executive Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer for Carle Hospital and Physician Group in Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Moberg has practiced addiction medicine for 20 years and concurrently served as medical director of two addiction recovery centers from 2000 to 2010 in Urbana-Champaign.  He is a fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine alongside being Board certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine, he received his MS in Health Policy and Administration, and a PhD in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign.

David C. Lott, MD, DFASAM, DFAPA is Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he supervises the CD training for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows. He is also Medical Director of Addiction Treatment Services at Linden Oaks Hospital in Naperville, Illinois, where he is a clinically active addiction specialist. He is a fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the American Psychiatric Association, and a member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. In addition he currently serves as Treasurer of the Illinois Society of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Lott received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins. He completed a residency in Psychiatry at The University of Chicago and a Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at The University of Illinois at Chicago. He is board certified in Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.

Ernest Rose, MD, graduate of University of Louisville School of Medicine, Dr. Ernest C. Rose completed 1yr of surgery residency and a full residency in Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Management at the University of Iowa. He practiced anesthesia from 1979 thru 1996 during which time he also ran several ICUs and pain clinics. Dr. Rose transitioned to an exclusive practice of Addiction Medicine in 1997.   He has served as staff physician for methadone maintenance at BRASS-1, BRASS-2, HRDI-Southwest Central, El Rincon Community Clinic, Center for Addictive Problems (CAP) –Chicago & CAP-Downers Groove. He’s served as Medical Director for Crossroads Clinic, Northside Clinic, CAP, CAP-Downers Groove. Residential/Level-III experience includes Brandon House, Essence House, Harriet Tubman, Chicago Girls, Nearwest Residential, Interventions Woodridge (adolescent & adult), Interventions Southwood. He co-directed the detox unit at Southwood.  Dr.  Rose’s current practice includes Medical Director, El Rincon Community Clinic and owner/Medical Director of Rose Medical Association, Inc .Peoria IL.
