Passive House Brunch and Learn

Passive House Image

Learn about a local example of green design and construction with a photo tour and storytelling of the building process and life in the "most energy-efficient house in Colorado."

The first Colorado project built and certified as a passive house sits only a short drive west of Fort Collins.

Andrew Michler’s passive house was built for the environment and emphasizes natural materials with minimal use of typical materials like foam insulation and concrete.

The off-grid home sits on a hillside in the Colorado mountains, and was built to maximize solar exposure and allow those inside to take in magnificent views.

Careful attention to design and construction resulted in a home with a heating demand that is 90 percent less than a standard home. Often, cooking, showering or doing laundry provides enough gain to heat the house. The home maintains a constant 60-70 degree temperature year-round.

Breakfast refreshments will be served.
