Chicks in Horticulture -

Dinner and a Movie Under the Stars

As if Dinner and a movie with friends wasn't enough, we added 3 more reasons to buy your tickets now.
  1. CNLP Credits (2 - 3 credits offered)
  2. Pre-dinner tour of the famous Walled Garden led by our host Maura Brush, Director of Horticulture.
  3. For dessert, we will be serving Youngs Farm Pies! Courtesy of our Hosts at Old Westbury Gardens.
Event will be held "Rain or Shine",
we will just move into the Barn!

Dinner will be served 'al fresco' as the sun sets over the beautiful gardens. Then bring a comfy chair or blanket to watch the show under the stars.

We will be screening “The Life and Gardens of Beatrix Farrand”!

This is the first documentary ever produced about the life and gardens of Beatrix Farrand, the most successful female landscape architect in early 20th century America and one of the founders of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

We can't think of a better venue to honor this pioneering woman than Old Westbury Gardens.

The Life and Gardens of Beatrix Farrand, by filmmaker Karyl Evans

This compelling film chronicles the life of Beatrix Farrand (1872-1959), who grew up in the privileged world of the East Coast elite and fought through the challenges of working in a male-dominated profession to design over 200 landscape commissions during her remarkable 50-year career. The documentary takes viewers on an inspiring journey across the country as we explore her personal story and many of her most spectacular gardens, including Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C.; the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden at the New York Botanical Garden; Garland Farm in Bar Harbor, Maine; the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden in Bar Harbor, Maine; and her California gardens.
