Join other parents, education experts, elected officials, and community members for the 35th annual PTA Advocacy Day: Education Adequacy hosted by the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs, Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs, and Pleasanton PTA Council.
Under the Local Control Funding Formula, the conversation about education has begun to shift from how we will equitably fund public schools, to how we will adequately fund quality public education. As part of our day, we will explore what a quality public education should include and what it will take to provide. We will hear from policy advisors, a panel of advocacy groups, and our state legislators about their ideas and how we might engage the public for positive change.
Our agenda for the day includes:
Adequately Funded Quality Public Education - Kevin Gordon, Capitol Advisors
A Panel of Different Perspectives on how to increase education funding - moderated by John Fensterwald, Editor, EdSource
An Insider's View - Craig Cheslog, Vice President for California Policy, Common Sense Media, former Principle Advisor to State Superintendent Tom Torlakson
Lunch
Adequacy & Parent Engagement - Mary Perry, California State PTA, Legislative Advocate and Co-Author of ED100, Education Consultant
State Legislator Panel - Moderated by John Festerwald, Editor, EdSource
