CMSM is excited to welcome you to Lutz, Florida, for the 2019 Safeguarding Workshop, to continue to grow the culture of safety in the Church through men's religious institutes as we strengthen our mission to protect and heal. 

As the Church continues to experience scrutiny of its safe environment programs, while struggling to address leadership accountability, CMSM maintains a commitment to offer in-depth dialogue to our members in the implementation of best practices in safeguarding. We will learn together how we can affirm what we are doing well, address the new challenges before us, and implement interventions to strenthen our responses and programs.

This year's workshop will offer three different tracks:

• Supervisors
• Victim Assistance Coordinators
• Review Board leaders, members, and administrators

We will bring together an experienced and knowledgable team to lead the discussion as we explore the psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of safeguarding.  See the schedule here. 

Registration and Lodging

We recognize that some participants prefer staying at a retreat center and some prefer a local hotel. We are offering both options, as well as a commuter rate (housing on your own for commuters).

• Bethany Center: All rooms are single occupancy, with a queen bed, linens, and private bath. 
• Hilton Garden Inn on Suncoast Parkway: Single or double rooms and just 12 minutes from the Bethany Center. Registering through our system gives you the lowest price, and we have arranged for a shuttle to and from the Bethany Center.
• If you are sharing a room at the Hilton Garden Inn with another participant: Register one person as staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, and the other as a commuter. Those who indicate they are sharing a room will be booked in a room with two queens; all others will be in a room with a single king.
• Up to three people may register per online form.
• Payment is by credit card or check. If paying by check, please complete and submit form, then print a copy and mail with your check (US dollars payable to CMSM) to CMSM; 7300 Hanover Drive, Suite 304; Greenbelt, MD 20770.
• The Bethany Center is located 10 miles from the Tampa International Airport. Taxi fare is approximately $50, and Uber or Lyft, approximately $30.

Bonus Pre-Workshop 

• The Basics will be offered for those new to child protection or interested in a overview refesher on Monday, Oct. 28, at 9 a.m. The full workshop begins at noon that day. 

Airport:  The nearest airport is Tampa International Airport.  The Bethany Center is a short drive away, by rental car or Uber.

Cancellation policy: Refunds will be given for cancellations made by September 30, less a $100 non-refundable cancellation fee. No refunds will be available after that time.
