West Harlem Group Assistance, Inc.   46th Anniversary Fundraiser Gala  

On Thursday, October 26, 2017, West Harlem Group Assistance, Inc. (WHGA) will be celebrating 46 years #WHGA46 of community building and development in the Harlem community at their 46^th Annual Fundraiser Gala. This year’s commemorative event will take place at ESPACE Ballroom in Manhattan, located at 635 West 42^nd Street, New York from 6:00-9:30pm. Some of our confirmed extradionary corporate sponsors for this year’s gala include The Phipps Houses Group, Chase and BNY Mellon.

46 years ago, a handful of Harlem citizens determined to rebuild and revitalize a deteriorating neighborhood established WHGA. Since that time, WHGA has been a catalyst for community development and social services, building an affordable housing portfolio comprised of more than 1,600 units.  Over the past 46 years, WHGA has maintained an energetic mission to improve Harlem’s physical and economic outlook. This event will help us to raise critical funds that will support our community and social service programs, while recognizing outstanding leaders and community activists who have contributed to WHGA’s success as well as the community at large.

Performing at this year's gala will be sultry singer-songwriter Carol Riddick. Having graced stages from her hometown of Philadelphia to across the globe, she has won fans and admirers alike with her extraordinary voice and presence. Highly regarded in the music community, Carol has blessed the tracks of many distinguished artists. She is featured on records by Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Norman Brown, Kindred The Family Soul and a host of others. She has collaborated with GRAMMY Award winning producers and songwriters including James Poyser (Erykah Badu, The Roots), Anthony Bell (Jill Scott, Jewel), and Carvin Haggins & Ivan Barias (Musiq, Faith Evans), just to name a few. Her beautiful spirit, sensuous stage shows and passionate vocal delivery will surely soothe your ears and alter your spirit in the most alluring way.

Tony Hillery, Founder & Executive Director of Harlem Grown and Adrian Council & Jean Nash Wells of The Positive Community Magazine will receive this year’s Community Service Awards. Sabrina Lamb, Founding Chief Executive Officer of WorldofMoney.org and Dyana Williams, Media Personality, Celebrity Strategist & Cultural Activist will be presented with this year’s Leadership Awards.
