Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging Presents:

"THE DYNAMICS OF DIFFERENCE"

Purpose: 

This session will help you understand your own beliefs and values in this area so you can interact more professionally and competently with people of all backgrounds. At the conclusion of the class you will be able to identify how the management of diversity issues can impact individual and team cooperation, productivity and organizational effectiveness. You will also be able to identify how assumptions and stereotypes can effect your behavior and relationships – and skills that can be used to recognize and prevent biased interactions.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this program participants will be able to:

 

  • Define diversity and identify how the effective or ineffective managing of diversity can impact individual and team cooperation, productivity and organizational effectiveness
  • Identify how assumptions and stereotypes can affect our behavior and relationships
  • Identify at least five key diversity concepts that can be used to recognize and prevent biased interactions

Speaker: Marcella Balin is a well-known and highly regarded educator and presenter. She is an independent nurse entrepreneur and lecturer with thirty-eight years of experience.  She began her nursing career in  Brooklyn, NY and spent a decade moving into the field of education. She parlayed years of widely varied teaching experience into a career of independent teaching and presenting. Her BSN is from Wright State University in Dayton, and she brings years of ongoing professional education in human and organizational development to her workshops. She is a very energetic and dynamic speaker.

CEU Information: 
  • Program is approved for 6.0 continuing education units for LSWs, LISWs, SWA, Nurses (via reciprocity with the SW board). This program meets the Ethics Requirement for Social Workers
  • The Ohio Board of Nursing will accept sessions approved for Social Workers for Continuing Nurse Education.
  • To comply with the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board: Late Arrivals will NOT be admitted.
