Autumn Special Event

Saturday, November 5, 2011  8:30AM to 12:30PM

TOUR INSTRUCTOR:  David J. Simchock (www.DavidSimchock.com / www.VagabondVistas.com)

TOUR DESCRIPTION:  This halfl-day tour is all about Asheville's most popular tourist attraction, taking in the exterior of the Biltmore House, as well as the gardens and grounds near to the gardens (e.g., Bass Pond).  As photography is not permitted inside of the house, this tour only covers "outside".

The general themes of this Photo Tour are historic architecture and nature, and fall color vistas should the color hang around into November.  As is normally the case, David is only accepting six registrations for this date, so space is very limited.  With such a small group, clients are guaranteed personal attention throughout the day.

Designed as a "hands-on" workshop, this Photo Tour is ideal for past students of David's classroom-based workshops, though it is also a perfect match for any photography enthusiast.  Throughout the day, David will guide the group to the optimum locations for creating postcard views of this historic mansion and landscape.

Not just a "tour guide", David divides his time between brief group instruction sessions, and working one-on-one with his clients.  Topics may include camera exposure (aperture / shutter speed / ISO), light metering, focus systems, white balance, use of accessories and general photographic composition guidance.

Just as he does in his studio-based events, David provides a holistic approach to teaching, learning and practicing photography, whether that be instruction in camera operation or artistic composition, inspiring his clients to "make" great photos, instead of just "taking" them.

RECOMMENDED GEAR:  DSLR camera or point-and-shoot camera; wide-angle and telephoto lenses; macro lens; tripod; cable release or remote; polarizing filter; gear protection for inclement weather.

MEETING PLACE / TRANSPORTATION: The group will meet at the ticket office of the Biltmore, 1 Lodge Street, Asheville, NC 28803.  If you do not already have a ticket or season pass, David can help provide a discount so please do not purchase your ticket until he arrives.  If you require transportation from within Asheville, please contact David for assistance.

Event is rain or shine.

Group size is limited to just six (6) people.

Early Bird SPECIAL Registration Fee:  Only $50

(Event fee $75 after October 26, 2011)

(does NOT include estate admission)

Registration closes November 1, 2011.
