Dear Eurobikers,
Last year at Eurobike, AVERE's Light Electric Vehicle Task Force (LEV-TF) had only just been launched. Now, one year later, the Task Force is up and running and full of activities to promote light electric vehicles in Europe.
We thought it high time for a meeting that will be packed with information on essential LEV-issues:
- The heavily debated type-approval for electric bicycles that becomes effective next year: what does it
entail, which bikes are subject, what are the remaining hurdles in the new legislation?
- The much anticipated review of the White Paper on Transport, which prescribes a total ban of combustion
engine cars from cities by 2050. To what extent does the Whtie Paper ensure that these cars will be replaced
by light electric vehicles? And what is AVERE LEV-TF doing about it all?
- WHO-bikeS, a new Interreg project proposal with a view to encouraging commuters to use electric bicycles
and to improve their means of transport
- Finally, the weak spot in the electric bike world: research. There is a pressing need for academic research
into all the different aspects of electric bikes and their use. AVERE LEV-TF is strengthening its ties with the
academic world. Bram Rotthier, PHD student at the KUL-Campus Gent, will tell you an inspiring story on
his research on speed pedelecs and on all other electric bike research carried out at his university.
Come and have your lunch break with us on Thursday 27 August. Join us for our information meeting over a sandwich and a coffee and have your say on which priorities to pick in the European promotion of light electric vehicles.
Please also consider attending the information meeting on TWIN, the European project on training in the field of electric bicycles. This meeting will take place on Thursday from 11.30 till 12.30 in the same meeting room. Please register for the TWIN meeting here: registration TWIN meeting.
