NYSCA Victim Advocacy Training

The goal of this training is to provide a forum through dialogue and educational sessions that fosters Learning, Skill Building and Peer Support to assist advocates in their role. 

The training will include foundational sessions on providing support through court and other systems, crisis intervention and resolution, the rights of crime victims, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Workshops will be presented by experienced professionals currently working in the field of child abuse intervention and prevention and focuses on the knowledge, interventions, and skills necessary for this important work.

Session Topics Include:

CSEC and Human Trafficking Victims

Youth with Problematic Sexual Behaviors

Working with Resistant Caregivers

*The agenda has been developed to address all of the topics required to meet the NCA Accreditation standard for victim advocacy training.*

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This training is designed for Victim/Family Advocates who are working at or with a Child Advocacy Center.

PREREQUISITE: Attendees must complete the eight online modules of the Medical University of South Carolina's Crime Victim Web training course. The URL is here: http://cv.musc.edu.  This is a free course that can be complete at your own pace before or after June 22nd. You will need to provide your CVWeb certificate of completion before receiving your certificate for the June training.  Thank you!

(Fee Includes Continental Breakfast and Lunch on Both Days)
