Fresno County Farm Bureau (FCFB) offers trainings and seminars for educational and license renewal purposes.

PSA-Approved produce safety training

Date: Wednesday, March 7

Time: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Location: Clovis Veterans Memorial District, 808 4th St., Clovis

Cost: $35 per person             

Description: California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) Foundation invite both organic and non-organic growers to attend the PSA-Approved Produce Safety Training. The training will meet the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirement for produce growers. The trainers will spend approximately seven hours of instruction time covering content contained in these seven modules: introduction to produce safety; worker health, hygiene, and training; soil amendments; wildlife, domesticated animals, and land use; agricultural water (part I: production water; part II: postharvest water); postharvest handling and sanitation; how to develop a farm food safety plan.

After attending the entire course, participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) that verifies they have completed the training course. To receive an AFDO certificate, a participant must be present for the entire training and submit the appropriate paperwork to their trainer at the end of the course.

Fork Lift "train the trainer"

Date: Tuesday, March 13

Time: Spanish (9 a.m. to noon); English (1 to 4 p.m.)

Location: FCFB, 1274 W. Hedges Ave., Fresno

Cost: $50 per person

Description: Western Agricultural Processors Association (WAPA), in partnership with local agricultural organizations, will call attention to training requirements and will provide hands-on demonstrations and materials both in English and in Spanish.

Kings river water quality coalition (KRWQC) Grower Compliance Workshop

Date: Wednesday, March 7

Time: Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the workshop from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Location: FCFB, 1274 W. Hedges Ave., Fresno

Cost: No-cost to members

Description: KRWQC representatives will cover updates, required forms, well information and well-head protection.

Pesticide use near school sites and worker protection standard (wps) changes workshop

Date: Thursday, March 15

Time: 9 to 11 a.m.

Location: C.P.D.E.S. Hall, 172 W. Jefferson Ave., Fresno

Cost: No-cost to members

Description: FCFB and the Fresno County Agricultural Commissioner's office will host a workshop on the use of pesticide near school sites and Worker Protection Standard (WPS). Participants will receive two hours of Laws and Regulations Continuing Education hours upon completion.

heat illness prevention training

Date: Friday, April 13

Time: English (10 a.m. to noon); Spanish (1:30 to 3:30 p.m.)

Location: C.P.D.E.S. Hall, 172 W. Jefferson Ave., Easton

Cost: No cost to members

Description: Local agricultural associations and organizations will provide a training on practices and equipment used to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Sexual harassment prevention training

Date: Thursday, April 26

Time: English (10 a.m. to noon); Spanish (1 to 3 p.m.)

Location: FCFB, 1274 W. Hedges Ave., Fresno

Cost: No cost to members

Description: Local agricultural associations and organizations will provide a training intended for managers, supervisors and foremen. The training will be presented by Noel Zuniga, Labor and Compliance Consultant, and former Deputy with Department of Labor Standards Enforcement. The two-hour session will meet the two-hour requirement. Each participant will receive a certificate upon completion.
