Hugh Overholt is a Government Relations Attorney at Ward and Smith, P.A., a retired Major General of the U.S. Army, and has been appointed to the North Carolina State Board of Transportation. His practice experience encompasses federal and state government affairs. Hugh advises clients on government contract, regulatory, and legislative issues and all aspects of military law. He is experienced in federal administrative issues, including representation before all United States government agencies. Hugh has been rated by his peers as being "preeminent" in his fields of law. Prior to joining the firm, he served as The Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1989. Hugh also served as Assistant Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army from 1981 to 1985.

Jamie Norment is a Government Relations Attorney at Ward and Smith, P.A. and works regularly with individuals, corporations, and governmental entities on a variety of complex legal matters. His experience in substantive areas of the law includes government contracts (with an emphasis on local, state, and federal construction contracts and the procurement of goods and services), government relations and lobbying (including campaign finance and ethics issues), and economic development law (especially public-private partnerships and incentives). Jamie has extensive experience with board governance issues, open meeting and public records laws, and military economic development initiatives. He provides legal services to corporations, individuals, cities, counties, public housing authorities, community colleges, and other independent subdivisions of the State.

Denny is a small business owner and consults as the defense industry business manager for the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. Since 2015, Denny has also provided service to the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), including establishing and directing the NC Defense Technology Transition Office (DEFTECH).
Prior to moving to North Carolina, Denny completed a 28 year Army career followed by 14 years as an executive with defense contractors in the Washington, DC area.
He earned a B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a M.S. in Industrial Relations from Purdue University, National Security Strategy graduate of the US Air Force War College, is a Shipley trained Capture Manager, a Miller-Heiman trained Salesman, and a certified SCORE mentor.
Denny and his wife currently reside in Chapel Hill, NC.
