Brigadier General Stephen Iacovelli, U.S. Army Reserve and Senior Program Manager at Applied Information Sciences (AIS)

Stephen Iacovelli is a Senior Program Manager at Applied Information Sciences (AIS), a Microsoft Gold Partner and an authorized Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner,efficiently delivering innovative solutions that maximize their clients’ technology investments. During his nearly 10- years with AIS, Stephen has served in various technical and leadership roles on a variety of projects for various clients.

Stephen is also a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserve and is currently assigned to the Standby Reserve (Inactive). Brigadier General Iacovelli enlisted in the Army in 1984 and was later the distinguished graduate from his AIT class at Fort Lee, Virginia. In 1989, he was commissioned as an Engineer Officer through the Army ROTC Program at Brooklyn Polytechnic University, later becoming Psychological Operations qualified at Ft. Bragg, NC.

Brigadier General Iacovelli has served in the Army for nearly 39-years and has commanded at all levels from Platoon to Division. His most recent assignments include: Product Development DetachmentCommander, 362d Psychological Operations Company; Force Development Plans Officer, United StatesArmy Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne); Joint Psychological OperationsStrategic Planner, United States Special Operations Command; Commander, 3rd Battalion, 323rdInfantry Regiment, 98th Training Division; Deputy Chief of Staff, G2, 416th Theater Engineer Command;Commander, 2nd Brigade, 98th Training Division (Initial Entry Training); Strategic Initiatives Group OIC,108th Training Command; and, most recently, Commanding General 94th Training Division (ForceSustainment) / Deputy Commanding General – USAR, U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command, Ft.Lee, VA.

Brigadier General Iacovelli holds a Master’s in Information Systems (with honors) and a Bachelor’s inComputer Science (with honors) from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S Army War College where he was a Distinguished Graduate. He is also a National Security Fellow at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.Brigadier General Iacovelli’s awards include: the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, DefenseMeritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal w/2 Campaign Stars, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the parachutist badges from the German Army, the Irish Defense Forces, and the Royal Thai Army, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).

The Defense Alliance of North Carolina (DANC) Goverment Relations Purpose:

  • Assist the Executive Director and Senior Director in reviewing issues related to the Defense Alliance of North Carolina (DANC) and provide advice and recommendations to the DANC Executive Board and Management Council regarding same.
  • Monitor State and Federal legislative agendas to identify legislation that is relevant to the DANC membership; provide recommendations, if appropriate, to the DANC Executive board and Management Council on policy positions.
  • Develop strategies to educate DANC members on relevant government related issues
  • Develop strategies to educate and communicate with legislators, organizations and other relevant parties regarding the Defense Alliance of North Carolina (DANC) and our position on any particular legislative issue as directed by the DANC Executive Board and Management Council
  • Identify statewide and national associations with similar interests and provide recommendations and advice to the DANC Executive board and Management Council concerning opportunities to align organizations to strengthen advocacy on key issues.
