Workshop Descriptions and Sessions

Session A: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Understanding the Orange County Transportation Initiative – This November, voters will decide if they want a one-cent sales tax increase to fund specific transit and transportation infrastructure needs in Orange County. The projects associated with the transportation initiative are anticipated to increase safety, mobility and connectivity. This informative and educational workshop will review the Transportation Initiative Report and address your questions about the initiative.

Ask A Lawyer – As a homeowners’ or condominium association board, you have a legal responsibility to your community, which your residents expect you to meet. Would you appreciate legal guidance about neighborhood-related legal documents, processes or practices?  Presented by a local attorney that specializes in this field, this workshop is what you are looking for.

Neighborhood Services Division 2.0: An Upgrade to Code Compliance – The Code Enforcement Division recently merged with the Neighborhood Services Division in 2021 as a part of Orange County’s plan to approach code compliance in a smarter, more collaborative and efficient way. This workshop will explain the new approach, show how the changes will positively affect your community, and give answers to your questions about code violations.

Session B: 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.

A Sustainable and Resilient Orange County – Central Florida residents fortunate to call Orange County home are blessed to be surrounded by numerous lakes, rivers, and springs.  This workshop, presented by Orange County Environmental Protection Division, will highlight how the County is the leader in sustainability and community resilience. Participants will learn about programs impacting residents, businesses, and associations related to fertilizer application, open burning practices, and more.

A Source of Pride: Neighborhood Beautification – How your neighborhood looks makes a statement without saying a word. Are you satisfied with what it says? An improved entranceway can help residents feel proud to call their neighborhood home. Find out how the Neighborhood Beautification Grant can fund projects to assist with increasing your community pride.

2022 Legislative Updates – State laws regulating mandatory condominium, property, and homeowners’ associations change each year. At this workshop, attorneys will answer questions about legislative updates covering a range of topics, including mandatory association governance, grievances or appeals processes, official organization records requirements, association/member disputes, reserve funding requirements, how to legally deal with foreclosures, association rules, and more.

Session C: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

A Chat with Mayor Demings – Mayor Jerry L. Demings is finishing his fourth full year as Mayor of Orange County and continues to be committed to ensuring Orange County provides a quality of life that works for everyone. His commitment drives the initiatives he is implementing, including housing for all, transportation funding, economic development, and increased public safety. This interactive workshop provides the perfect setting to dialogue directly with Mayor Demings about the future and the groundwork being laid to make Orange County the “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” by creating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and inclusiveness.
